NHL 98

Description

NHL 98 is an ice hockey video game developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports for the PlayStation platform. It is based on the 1997-98 NHL season and features on-ice action with 3D polygonal players rendered on the system. The game runs on the Virtual Stadium engine, delivering a hockey experience characteristic of late-90s sports titles.

On the ice, you control a team in real-time matches, moving skaters, passing to open teammates, firing shots on goal, and applying checks. Gameplay emphasizes timing, stick handling, and strategic positioning as you manage line changes and defensive coverage. The camera follows the action to provide a straightforward, arcade-tinged view of the rink.

Game modes available include Single-player and Multiplayer sessions, allowing you to play through matches against the computer or another player.

Platform notes: As a late-1990s title, NHL 98 showcases polygonal characters and a straightforward interface typical of its era.

Who it's for: collectors and retro gamers seeking an authentic hockey experience from the era will appreciate this title for its straightforward on-ice action and period-accurate presentation.
