VR Golf 97

Description

VR Golf '97, released for the PlayStation, is a golf simulation that emphasizes real-time 3-D course visuals and accessible swing-based play. It offers amateur and professional tours along with a variety of solo and local multiplayer modes crafted for fans of classic sports titles.

Gameplay centers on timing and aim. Players control shots with a power and direction meter, select clubs, and read course conditions through a range of camera angles. The experience focuses on precise shot execution and course strategy within a straightforward control scheme typical of mid-90s golf titles.

Game modes include practice and stroke play, match play, skins, fourball, and foursome, with tournament formats such as AMA Tour and Pro Tour that support multiplayer competition. Local multiplayer allows up to four players to compete in rounds or mini-tournaments.

Platform presentation reflects early 3-D golf visuals of the era, featuring polygonal golfers and varied on-course perspectives. The game emphasizes clear shot feedback, replay angles, and motion-captured animation to convey a sense of realism without overcomplicating the mechanics.

Who it’s for: collectors and retro gaming enthusiasts who value a comprehensive golf experience from the mid-90s, especially those who appreciate a wide array of modes, customizable avatars, and the tactile feel of classic sports titles.
